World Economic Forum estimates that gender equity is still 123 years away at our current pace.

We have checked the boxes: Affirmative action is in motion, girls' education is being championed, and economic inclusion for female entrepreneurs is on the map. But "checks" on a list don’t always translate to seats at the table.

At Tech for Nonprofits (tfn), we are interested in more than statistics. We want to spotlight the women who are reshaping the future today.

The Reality on the Ground:

Data from UN Women and World Economic Forum presents a striking paradox.

In the technology sector, women hold less than one-third of roles, and an even smaller 5% of leadership positions.

Yet in the social impact sector, the story shifts:

  • Social enterprises: Nearly 50% are women-led, yet a significant funding gap remains.

  • Nonprofits: Women make up around 70% of the workforce but hold only 30% of executive leadership roles.

The numbers show progress, but they also reveal how much work remains.

Call To Action:

This Women’s Month, tfn is taking a pause to amplify “Women Behind Impact in Kenya”. We are profiling the women who have shattered the proverbial glass ceiling and are now reaching back to pull others through.

Over the coming days, you will meet leaders who view partnership as a blueprint for building rather than replicating. Hear from mentors who are intentionally clearing the path they once had to hack through themselves. They aren't just part of the statistics; they are the ones changing them.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, "Give to Gain," resonates deeply with the stories we are about to share.

In a world where women are often expected to give until they are empty, these leaders are showing us a new perspective: how giving of mentorship, of space, and of opportunity creates a cycle of receiving that strengthens the entire ecosystem.

When we give women the platform, we all gain progress.

Join us, as we celebrate the resilience, the brilliance, and the leadership stories of the women in tech and the social impact.
